Artist statement
Saqib Akhtar is a contemporary watercolor artist recognized for vividly capturing the historical spirit and architectural beauty of Lahore through expressive and detailed paintings. His work reflects a deep connection with the city’s cultural identity,
portraying iconic landmarks, old streets, traditional bazaars, and fading urban landscapes with remarkable sensitivity and craftsmanship. Through delicate washes, atmospheric
compositions, and intricate detailing, he preserves the nostalgia and timeless character of Lahore’s heritage. Inspired by the city’s layered history, Saqib’s paintings celebrate
the harmonious blend of Mughal grandeur, colonial-era architecture, and contemporary urban life. His artworks invite viewers to rediscover Lahore not only as a city but as a living narrative filled with memory, emotion, and cultural richness. Over the years, his distinctive visual language has established him as a prominent voice in contemporary watercolor art in Pakistan.

Biography
Alongside his artistic practice, Saqib Akhtar is actively engaged in academia and design education. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Visual Communication Design (VCD) department at the University of Management and Technology, where he mentors emerging artists and designers while continuing his professional artistic journey.

He has graduated in Visual Communication Design from NCA, Lahore in 1985 with
honors. His work has been displayed in local galleries as well as in Kuwait. He has worked with several renowned organizations including Hilton/Avari Hotel & The Bank of Punjab in Pakistan and iPak, Direction Communication, Market Links, Four Films Printing Ltd. & Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwait.
